A block wall does two jobs at once. It marks your boundary and gives you privacy and security, and it does it with the kind of mass and durability a fence can never match. We have been laying block across the Las Vegas Valley for over 30 years.
Done right, a block wall is a barrier you build once and forget about. We pour a proper footing, lay each course straight and plumb, fill and reinforce the cells, and cap it clean. That structure shrugs off wind, sun, and the soil movement that wrecks lighter fencing. It also defines a yard, cuts road noise, and adds curb appeal that buyers notice.
- Reinforced footings sized for desert soil
- Privacy, boundary, and security wall builds
- Styles, textures, and colors to match your home
- Cuts noise and improves resale value
Block wall projects we handle
Privacy walls
Tall, solid walls that block sight lines and street noise so your backyard actually feels private.
Boundary & property walls
Clean perimeter walls that define your lot and replace tired fencing with a permanent, low-maintenance barrier.
Security walls
Heavier, reinforced walls built for properties that need a real physical deterrent, finished to look like part of the home.
Decorative block walls
Custom patterns, split-face and textured block, caps, and color that turn a functional wall into a design feature.
Fence-to-wall conversions
We replace failing wood or chain-link fencing with a proper block wall, setting new footings to carry the added weight.
Commercial block walls
Screen walls, enclosures, and perimeter walls for businesses, built to plan and to local code.
Our block wall process
Clean masonry comes from clean prep. Here is what goes into every block wall we build.
Site assessment and layout
We check grade, soil conditions, and utility locations, confirm setback and HOA requirements, and flag anything that could affect the footing or wall height before we start digging.
Excavation and footing pour
We excavate to the proper depth for the footing based on the planned wall height. A wider, deeper footing is not optional with desert soils that shift. The footing is poured with rebar dowels set in place for the wall above.
Block course laying
Each course is laid plumb, level, and with consistent joint width. We check alignment as we go and do not leave crooked work to fix later. Running bond pattern distributes load; decorative patterns are planned and executed from the first course.
Cell filling and reinforcement
Vertical rebar runs through the wall and ties into the footing dowels. The cells around the steel are filled with grout. This is what turns stacked block into a structural wall that holds under load and lateral pressure.
Cap installation
Cap blocks are set in mortar to seal the top of the wall against water intrusion and give a finished look. Cap style options are selected at the estimate stage so the look matches your property.
Final review and cleanup
We do a full walk of the finished wall for alignment, joint quality, and cap seating before we clean up. Any mortar drips on adjacent surfaces are cleaned and the site is left tidy.
Four things set our block walls apart
Durability, style, customization, and craftsmanship. We use premium materials, keep every course in precise alignment, and consider soil, drainage, and local code on every job. A standard residential wall usually takes only a few days, and we handle the permitting so you do not have to.

What does a block wall cost in Las Vegas?
Block wall pricing varies too much from job to job to quote a useful per-foot number without seeing your site. Scope, soil, height, and finish all shift the number significantly. What we can tell you is what drives the cost so you understand what you are paying for.
Wall height and linear footage
Taller walls need deeper footings, more block courses, more reinforcement, and more labor. A six-foot wall is a very different project from a four-foot wall at the same length.
Block type and finish
Standard CMU block is the baseline. Split-face, slump block, and decorative textured block cost more per unit and require more care to lay consistently. Cap block style and color are also a factor.
Reinforcement requirements
Taller walls and walls on poor or expansive soil need heavier rebar schedules and more grout fill. Permitting sometimes drives a specific reinforcement requirement that adds cost.
Site prep and demolition
If there is an existing fence, footing, or structure to remove first, that is part of the total project cost. Difficult site access, tight yards, or grade changes also add labor.

Block walls and Las Vegas permit requirements
Most residential block walls in the Las Vegas Valley require a building permit. In many cases you also need zoning approval and, if there is an HOA, their sign-off before construction starts. The permit application typically needs to show the wall's height, location on the lot, and structural details including the footing and reinforcement plan.
The Las Vegas metro is not a single permitting jurisdiction. The City of Las Vegas, Clark County, the City of Henderson, and the City of North Las Vegas each run their own building department with their own height thresholds and requirements. Two properties a few streets apart can have different rules. We know which jurisdiction covers your address, pull the permit under the proper license, schedule the inspections, and build to the standard the inspector expects.

Block walls FAQ
How long does a block wall take to build?
A typical residential block wall takes three to five days. A standard six-foot wall running about a hundred feet usually wraps in around four days, including footing, laying block, cap installation, and cleanup. Length, height, and site prep can shift that timeline.
Can you convert my existing fence into a block wall?
In most cases, yes. We first check whether the current footings can carry a block wall. Usually we remove the old fencing and pour proper new footings before laying block, since that is the only way to guarantee the wall stands up over time.
Do I need a permit for a block wall in Las Vegas?
Most residential block walls require a building permit, plus zoning approval and sometimes HOA sign-off. The plans need to show height, location, and structural details. We are familiar with the requirements across all Las Vegas Valley jurisdictions and handle the permitting process for you.
How much maintenance does a block wall need?
Very little. We recommend a yearly look for cracks or mortar wear, an occasional rinse to clear dust, and a quality sealant every few years to guard against moisture and UV. Catch any structural issue early and a block wall lasts for decades.
Does a block wall add value to my property?
It can. A well-built block wall improves curb appeal, security, and privacy, and it reduces noise, all things buyers look for. Properties with solid, attractive walls tend to show better and command stronger interest in a competitive market.
What does a block wall cost in Las Vegas?
There is no reliable single number because height, linear footage, block type, reinforcement requirements, and site conditions all shift the total significantly. We give you a firm, complete price after a free on-site visit. That way you are pricing the actual job, not a rough guess.
What block styles and finishes can I choose from?
Standard smooth CMU block is the common baseline. Split-face block has a rough, stone-like texture on one face. Slump block has an adobe or stucco appearance well-suited to desert architecture. Decorative patterned block and custom cap options let you match the wall to your home's style. We walk you through available options at the estimate.
How does a block wall compare to a wood or vinyl fence?
Block walls are heavier, more permanent, and require no ongoing maintenance beyond the occasional sealant. Wood fences rot, warp, and need repainting or replacement in the Las Vegas heat. Vinyl holds up better than wood but can shift and discolor. A block wall costs more upfront but typically outlasts multiple rounds of fence replacement.
