Stain Soaks In, It Does Not Sit on Top
Stained concrete is not paint. The color penetrates the surface and reacts with the concrete itself, so it will not peel, chip or flake the way a coating does. That makes it a smart choice for high-traffic floors, patios and entryways that take a beating in the Las Vegas heat.
We have spent three decades dialing in the prep, the application and the seal. A stained floor from Centurion resists wear, hides nothing under crevices where dirt collects, and reflects light to brighten the room. Done right, it reads more like polished stone than a poured slab.
- Color penetrates the slab, so it will not peel or fade
- Seamless surface that wipes clean and resists stains
- Works on interior floors, patios, driveways and pool decks
- Sealed to stand up to UV, heat and abrasion
What does stained concrete cost in Las Vegas?
Staining costs depend on whether you are working with an existing slab or a fresh pour, the stain type chosen, and the amount of prep the surface needs. Get a free on-site estimate for your specific project.
Staining an existing slab
Staining a sound, existing concrete floor or patio is typically the most cost-effective decorative concrete option available. Cost varies by stain type, surface condition, and prep required. Contact us for a free on-site estimate based on your actual slab.
New slab plus stain
If we are pouring the slab and staining it, the concrete work runs $10 to $15 per square foot for standard flatwork, with staining added on top. Integral color pigment systems like Davis Colors or Scofield can be worked into the mix during the pour for color that goes all the way through.
What moves the price
Surface prep (grinding, acid etching, crack repair), stain type (acid vs. water-based vs. dye), color complexity, and whether a sealer topcoat is included all factor in. We give you a clear breakdown before work begins, no surprises.

Choose the Look You Want
Every stain reacts differently with the concrete. We help you pick the method and color that fits your space, your light and your budget.
Acid Stains
Reactive stains that produce natural, earthy, marbled tones. Every slab comes out a little different, which is exactly the point.
Water-Based Stains
A wider, more predictable color range when you want bold or specific hues instead of the variegated acid look.
Dyes
Vivid, saturated color for interior floors. Great for accents, logos and design work where you need a precise shade.
Custom Color Matching
We match stain to your existing tile, paint or cabinetry so the floor ties the room together instead of fighting it.
Stain & Score Patterns
Saw-cut lines combined with stain to mimic tile, flagstone or large-format paver layouts.
Stain Over Existing Slabs
Already have concrete? We can prep and stain sound, existing slabs instead of tearing out and starting over.
The Prep Is Where Stain Wins or Loses
A bad stain job almost always traces back to a skipped step. We clean the slab down to bare, open concrete, pulling off dirt, grease and old coatings so the stain can actually bond. Then we apply, let the color develop, and finish with a sealer chosen for our climate.
- Thorough surface cleaning and profiling
- Controlled application for even, deep color
- UV-stable sealer in gloss or matte
- Clear maintenance plan handed to you at the end
Our stained concrete application process
1. Surface assessment
We inspect the existing slab for cracks, previous coatings, oil contamination, and moisture issues. Stain will not bond over a compromised surface, so we identify what prep is needed before the job is scheduled.
2. Deep cleaning and profiling
The slab is thoroughly cleaned of all dirt, grease, and any sealer or coating that would block penetration. Acid etching or mechanical diamond grinding opens the concrete pores so the stain has somewhere to go. This step determines everything that follows.
3. Masking and surface protection
We mask walls, base trim, and any adjacent surfaces that should not receive stain. Score lines or saw cuts go in at this stage if the design calls for a grid or tile pattern in the slab.
4. Stain application and color development
We apply the chosen stain, whether acid-reactive, water-based, or dye, in even passes using techniques that control where and how deep the color settles. Color systems like Solomon Colors and Scofield give us a proven, predictable palette to work from. Acid stains then go through a development period where the chemical reaction with the concrete creates the final color.
5. Neutralize and rinse
Acid stains require a neutralization step to stop the reaction at the right point. The residue is rinsed away, revealing the final tone. Water-based stains and dyes skip this step, which is one reason they are a good choice for occupied spaces with limited ventilation time.
6. Sealer selection and application
We apply a UV-stable sealer matched to the traffic level and environment. Interior floors get a different product than a pool deck or driveway in full Las Vegas sun. Matte, satin, or high-gloss options are available. We walk you through the maintenance schedule before we leave.

Stained vs. stamped concrete: which is right for your Las Vegas project?
Staining adds color. Stamping adds texture. They solve different problems, and sometimes the best answer is both. Here is the quick comparison. For the full breakdown, read our stamped vs. stained guide or see what stamping looks like on the stamped concrete page.
| Factor | Stained Concrete | Stamped Concrete |
|---|---|---|
| What it changes | Color and tone only | Texture and pattern (shape) |
| How it is applied | Applied to cured concrete, new or existing | Pressed into wet concrete during the pour |
| Mimics | Marble, earth tones, custom color | Stone, brick, slate, wood plank, cobblestone |
| Works on existing slab | Yes | No, needs a fresh pour (or overlay) |
| Typical installed cost | Typically lower; varies by stain type and prep | About $13 to $20+ per sq ft |
| Maintenance | Reseal every 1 to 3 years | Reseal every 2 to 3 years |
Staining can be applied over a stamped slab to add extra color depth and contrast. Ask us about combination finishes during your free estimate.
Stained Concrete FAQ
Will stained concrete fade in the Las Vegas sun?
Because the color penetrates the slab instead of sitting on top, stained concrete holds up far better than paint. The key is a UV-stable sealer, which is what we use, plus a reseal every few years on surfaces in full sun. Done that way, the color stays rich for a long time.
Can you match a specific color to my home or business?
Yes. We do custom color matching so the stain complements your existing tile, paint, cabinetry or branding. We can do a small test area first so you see the actual result on your slab before we commit the whole floor.
Do you offer low-VOC or environmentally friendly stains?
We do. Water-based stains and dyes give you low-odor, lower-VOC options that are a better fit for occupied homes, offices and indoor air quality, without giving up color or durability.
Can you repair or refresh stained concrete that has faded?
Yes. We can clean, touch up and reseal existing stained surfaces that have faded or taken damage over time, and in many cases bring back most of the original look without a full redo.
How much does stained concrete cost in Las Vegas?
Staining an existing slab is one of the most cost-effective ways to transform concrete because there is no pour involved. Cost depends on the stain type, the surface condition and prep required, and whether scoring or pattern work is added. For a new pour plus stain, the slab itself typically runs $10 to $15 per square foot, with staining added on top. Contact us for a free on-site estimate based on your actual surface.
Do I need a permit for stained concrete work in Las Vegas?
Staining an existing concrete surface generally does not require a permit, since no structural work is involved. If we are also pouring a new slab that receives the stain, permit requirements depend on the slab type and your jurisdiction in Clark County or the City of Las Vegas. We identify what is needed during the free estimate. For more detail, see our Las Vegas concrete permit guide.
What is the difference between acid stain and water-based stain?
Acid stains react chemically with the lime in the concrete, producing permanent, mottled, marble-like color that no two slabs share exactly. The color range skews toward earth tones, browns, tans, and soft greens. Water-based stains sit in the surface pores instead of reacting, which gives you a more uniform, predictable result across a wider color range, including custom matches and brighter hues. Acid stains require a neutralization step and more ventilation during application. Both produce durable results when sealed correctly.
Can stain be applied over stamped concrete?
Yes. Staining a stamped slab is a common combination finish. The stain settles into the recessed areas and highlights the texture of the pattern, adding depth and contrast that color hardener alone does not provide. We treat the surface the same way as any stain job: clean down to open concrete, apply, develop, seal.
Is stained concrete slippery when wet?
A stained slab with a high-gloss sealer can be slippery, especially around pools or in rain. We address this with a slip-resistant additive worked into the sealer for outdoor surfaces or any area that gets wet regularly. It does not affect the color or appearance and keeps the surface safe underfoot. Worth discussing during your estimate if the area will be exposed to water.
