Engineered, not just poured

A staircase is a structural element, not a decoration. It carries real load every day and has to land in exactly the right place. We engineer each run for the rise it spans, then pour it to hold square for decades.

Concrete stairs handle high traffic better than almost anything else. They will not flex, creak, or wear down a tread the way wood does, and they bring a level of fire resistance that wood and metal cannot match. For a busy household, a multi-unit property, or a commercial building, that durability pays off year after year.

  • Engineered rise, run, and reinforcement for each job
  • Superior fire resistance versus wood or steel
  • Straight, L-shaped, and switchback configurations
  • Finishes mixed for the Las Vegas climate

How we build a staircase

1. Site & scope review

We measure the total rise, study how the stairs connect to the structure, and confirm the use, whether it is a home entry, a deck, or a commercial run.

2. Engineering the run

We calculate even risers and treads to code, design the reinforcement, and plan the configuration so the staircase feels comfortable underfoot and lands true.

3. Forming & reinforcement

We build precise forms and tie in rebar so the whole staircase pours as one monolithic structure that moves together and resists cracking.

4. The pour

We place a concrete mix formulated for Nevada heat, then consolidate it carefully to eliminate voids and weak spots in the finished stair.

5. Finish & texture

We add the surface you want, from a clean broom finish to a stamped or stained look, with slip-resistant traction built into the treads.

6. Cure & final check

We cure the concrete properly so it reaches full strength, then walk the finished staircase with you before we call it done.

Why Centurion

Stairs that gain strength over time

Concrete actually keeps gaining strength as it cures, and a well-built staircase only gets more solid with age. We pair that with mixes tuned for our local climate and reinforcement detailing that guards against the cracking and spalling that hit lesser work.

What concrete stairs cost

Concrete staircase cost varies significantly by project. We price after a free on-site visit because too many variables affect the scope for a blanket per-step number.

Number of risers and total rise

A 6-riser residential staircase and a 16-riser commercial run are very different projects. More risers mean more material, more form work, and more finishing time. The total rise also determines how much rebar ties through the structure.

Configuration

A straight run is the simplest form. An L-shaped turn or a switchback adds corner forming and requires the structure to land correctly at each break point. Curved staircases are the most complex and take the most form time.

Width and tread depth

A 3-foot-wide residential stair is fundamentally different from a 6-foot-wide commercial entry stair. Wider stairs use more material and need more rebar. Deeper treads also add to the concrete volume per step.

Finish and railings

A broom finish is the baseline. Stained or stamped treads add time. Railing post sleeves set in the wet concrete during the pour give a cleaner, stronger result than drilling anchor sleeves into cured concrete afterward, and we plan for that during the design phase.

We visit the site, measure the rise and run, talk through the configuration and finish, and give you a written estimate. Call (702) 766-5401 or fill out the form below.

Concrete stairs FAQ

How does the Las Vegas climate affect concrete stairs?

Extreme heat can flash-cure concrete too fast and weaken it if it is not managed. We schedule pours, control the mix, and cure the stairs properly so the surface reaches full strength. That local know-how is what keeps our stairs from cracking under desert conditions.

Are concrete stairs more durable than wood or metal?

Considerably. Concrete does not rot, rust, or warp, it resists fire, and it gains strength as it ages. In a high-traffic setting that means far fewer repairs and a much longer service life than wood or steel stairs.

Can you match my building's architectural style?

Yes. Concrete molds into straight, L-shaped, or switchback runs, and we finish it with color, stain, or stamped texture to fit modern, traditional, or commercial designs. We tailor each staircase to the look of the property it serves.

What maintenance do concrete stairs need?

Very little. Sweep them, rinse off dust, and reseal every few years to protect against UV and moisture. Catch any hairline cracks early and the stairs will keep performing for decades with minimal upkeep.

Do you offer a free estimate on staircases?

We do. We will visit the site, measure the rise, talk through configuration and finish, and give you a clear written estimate with no obligation before any work begins.

What is the difference between concrete stairs and concrete steps?

Steps are shorter entry or grade-change assemblies, usually 2 to 6 risers, at a porch, entry, or grade transition outdoors. Stairs are full structural runs connecting levels inside a building or from a deck to grade, often 8 or more risers, with full load-bearing requirements. Stairs involve more engineering, heavier reinforcement, and more complex forming. Both are jobs Centurion handles, and the right description for your project usually becomes obvious once we see the rise you need to span.

Do concrete staircases need permits in Las Vegas?

Yes, almost always. A staircase connecting floors or levels in a building is a structural element that typically requires a permit and sometimes an engineer's stamp, depending on the building type and jurisdiction. We handle the permit coordination for each job and tell you exactly what your project requires before we start any work.

How long does it take to build concrete stairs?

A residential staircase typically takes 1 to 2 weeks from start to walkable. The concrete needs time to cure before we strip the forms and before you put full traffic on it. Larger commercial staircases take longer, and phased pours on tall runs add time between lifts. We give you a realistic schedule at the estimate stage so you can plan around it.

Can you set railing posts in the concrete during the pour?

Yes, and that is usually the right way to do it. Setting sleeves or post bases in the wet concrete during the pour gives you a solid, clean attachment. Drilling anchor sleeves into cured concrete afterward works but is not as clean or as strong. We plan the railing post locations during the design phase so the pour accommodates them the first time.
