Concrete steps take more abuse than almost anything on your property. Every person who walks up to your door uses them, and Las Vegas sun, heat, and shifting soil work against them year after year. We build steps that hold up.
Wood rots, metal rusts, but a properly poured set of concrete steps just keeps working. We set a solid footing below frost-free grade, tie in rebar, and finish with a broom or textured surface so they stay safe when wet. The result is a step that does not crack, settle, or wobble a few seasons later.
- Slip-resistant broom or textured finishes
- Reinforced footings sized for desert soil
- Even risers and treads that meet code
- Colors and finishes to match your home
Concrete step projects we handle
Entry & porch steps
The first thing visitors touch. We pour clean, even front steps that match your entry and give a safe, solid landing at the door.
Grade-change steps
Steps that bridge a slope between a yard, patio, or driveway. We set them so the rise stays consistent and the footing holds against soil movement.
Stamped & decorative steps
Stamped patterns and integral color that mimic stone or brick at a fraction of the cost, finished to match your hardscape.
Commercial entry steps
Higher-traffic steps for storefronts and offices, built with the durability and ADA-conscious detailing a business property needs.
Step repair & replacement
Cracked, spalling, or sinking steps replaced with a new pour, or repaired where the structure still has life left in it.
Steps with landings
Multi-level runs with intermediate landings, poured monolithically so the whole assembly moves as one piece and stays square.
Steps that stay level for the long haul
Most failed steps come down to weak prep. We never cut corners under the surface. Proper compaction, the right footing depth, and steel reinforcement are what keep a set of steps from settling or cracking once the desert ground starts to move.

Our concrete steps process
1. Site assessment
We measure the total grade change and figure out how many risers it takes to make each one even. We check how the steps connect to the existing entry or landing, look at any old step foundations that need to come out, and confirm utility clearances before planning the layout.
2. Demolition and excavation
Old steps come out if they need to. We excavate for the footing below the step assembly and haul debris off-site. The footing needs to sit on undisturbed soil at the right depth for desert ground conditions, so we do not cut short on that depth.
3. Footing and form work
We pour and set the footing first, then build wood forms for each tread and riser. Tread width and riser height are set to code and to feel natural underfoot. For curved or landing designs, forms take extra care to hold shape under the weight of the pour.
4. Steel reinforcement
Rebar is tied through the footing and the full step run. The steel is what keeps the steps acting as one monolithic piece instead of separate slabs that shift independently as the ground moves. We do not skip this step on any job.
5. Pour and finish
Concrete is placed in lifts from the bottom up and consolidated to eliminate voids. Treads are floated smooth, then broom-finished for traction. Integral color or a stamped nosing pattern can be worked in at this stage if that is part of the design.
6. Strip forms and cure
Forms come off once the concrete has its initial set. We keep the steps moist during the curing window and do not rush it. The surface hardness you walk on every day is built during those first days of cure, and cutting that short shows up later.
What concrete steps cost
Concrete steps are priced after a free on-site visit. The number depends on several things specific to your job, not a blanket per-step rate.
Number of risers and tread depth
A 3-step entry is a different job from a 10-step grade change. More risers mean more form work, more material, and more labor. Tread depth also matters, because a deeper tread requires more concrete per step.
Width of the steps
A 3-foot-wide utility step is faster to pour than a 6-foot-wide formal entry that needs to look finished on all visible sides. Wider steps use more material and take longer to form and finish cleanly.
Finish type
A standard broom finish is the baseline. Stamped nosings, integral color, exposed aggregate, or stained surfaces each add time and material cost. We can price the finish options side by side so you can choose what fits your budget.
Demolition and site conditions
If old steps need to come out first, or if site access is tight or on a slope, that adds to the scope. We account for that at the estimate so there are no surprises once work starts.

Concrete steps FAQ
How long do concrete steps last in Las Vegas?
With proper footings and reinforcement, concrete steps routinely last decades. They resist the wear, heat, and UV that break down wood and metal much faster. Annual sealing every few years and quick repair of any hairline cracks keep them solid for the long term.
Can you make concrete steps slip-resistant?
Yes. We finish steps with a broom texture, rock-salt finish, or a fine stamped pattern that holds traction even when wet. For commercial entries we can add non-slip nosing where extra grip is required.
Will the steps match the rest of my hardscape?
They can. We offer integral color, stains, and stamped textures that echo stone or brick, so a new set of steps reads as part of the existing patio, driveway, or walkway rather than a patch-on addition.
How do you keep steps from cracking or settling?
The work that matters happens before the pour. We compact the base, set footings to the right depth for our desert soil, and run steel reinforcement through the steps. That prep is what prevents the settling and cracking that plague steps poured on weak ground.
Do you repair existing concrete steps?
We do. If the structure is sound we can resurface and patch worn or chipped steps. If they have sunk or cracked through, a full replacement pour gives you a better long-term result, and we will tell you honestly which one your steps need.
What is the difference between concrete steps and concrete stairs?
Steps are generally shorter runs, often 2 to 6 risers, at an entry, porch, or grade change. Stairs are full structural stair runs, often 8 or more risers, connecting floors or levels inside a building or between a deck and grade. Both get reinforced footings and rebar, but stairs involve more load calculation, form complexity, and sometimes structural engineering. If you are connecting two levels in a building, that is a stair job. If you are getting up onto the porch, that is steps.
How many risers can you pour in one project?
There is no practical cap. We have poured everything from a 2-riser entry to long grade-change runs with intermediate landings. The design just has to keep the individual riser height consistent throughout, which is what makes steps feel natural to walk. We work that out in the form-setting stage before anything is poured.
Do new concrete steps need a permit in Las Vegas?
It depends on the scope and the jurisdiction. Simple replacement steps at an existing entry often do not require a permit. Steps attached to a structure, steps over a certain height, or commercial work typically do. We handle that on a project-by-project basis and tell you up front what your job requires.
How long before I can use new concrete steps?
You can walk on them 24 to 48 hours after the pour. For full traffic, we recommend waiting about a week so the surface has hardened properly. The concrete continues gaining strength for several weeks after that, but the 7-day mark is a reasonable point to return to normal use.
